I just can't bring myself to care for MMnet anymore. it's really the most awkward for updates and keeping track of comics you enjoy. pity too because as much as I want to support the creators financially, I don't want to support a shitty system/encourage its usage.

I totally understand you. That's why I still keep a full archive on smackjeeves and update there twice a week. It has an RSS feed option too.

I have made a few suggestions that I'd like to see to improve the experience from the creators PoV but if you have some suggestions you'd like for me to pass on, I'd be more than happy to forward them to the staff.

yeah, already subscribed to your comic on SJ c: and basically bcos SJ offers feeds. even if they didn't though, it's much easier to check which of your favourite comics have updated there and when. you'd think MM would try to offer the same kind of simplicity. doesn't make sense sigh

I've talked to nikki (tinf) and know she shares similar views, so it's glad to see that you creators are putting forth suggestions too. I've commented in some of the forums but yeah, doesn't seem to do much. they used to have feeds so I don't understand WHY they would think it to be a good idea to rid of them.

with that said, if you ever plan on printing witch's quarry I'll definitely be nabbing a copy! (similarly offbeat #3 hahaha )

Hey ~zzocc,

Do you mind sharing some of your thoughts or pointing me to which forum threads you brought up? I know RSS has definitely be a highly requested feature, but is this the key feature that is missing or it is something else in terms of the user experience on the site? Have you tried our new dashboard as it tracks and informs you of any new pages of any series you are reading?

We're always looking for ways to improve our site so your feedback is always appreciated.

Just looked at the new dash now. Quite an improvement from what was there previously. However, I still find the comic/manga updates to be lacking, but that might just be down to personal preference. I don't like the fact that emails are the only way to be notified of new pages. If you can add general feeds to the dash when there are new pages - even of subscriber only series - then I don't see why RSS is so hard (and I'm not sure why you ever got rid of it? Counter-intuitive in all honesty.)

You provide direct links in email/dash to new pages - would feeds for that not be easy enough (not actually embedding the new pages in the feed itself, just as a notification)? I check all my comic updates at once so emails make that awkward (not in the same place - will read email and forget to check comic bc busy with other things at that time) it's just inconvenient relying on email when I use that for other purposes.

The personalised updates (which have the ability to be filtered yay!) on your dash is a great improvement though. So kudos! The issue now is really just with being notified of comic updates. I won't remember to even check the site for updates - especially when I'm only following a few comics there - as it's not part of my daily routine/web browsing.

I'm not sure whether you guys already have a similar feature (I don't think you did last time I checked) but the ability to bookmark the page you're up to your progress in a comic? You've got some really good longer series so that would come in handy (readers just starting out who may only have time to read a chapter or something).

Anyway, sorry to natter on. For a while I felt like you guys were just all talk in your encouraging users to provide feedback. I'm glad to see that isn't the case and that suggestions have been implemented. You guys obviously do your best with what you have.

Hey ~zzocc,

Thanks a bunch for looking at the dashboard! In regards to seeing comic/manga updates, if you only select the premium check box and then select the "Manga & Comic Activities" is this what you were thinking about? On top of that, the dashboard should provide you with a grey box in the middle whenever there are new pages for any series that you are reading. What do you think of these options? Is this separate from your comment about "being notified of comic updates"?

In terms of RSS, we've actually been looking very closely at implementing RSS and had actually planned to look at it after finishing our iPad app which should be in a week or two. However, we're hesitating especially due to the fact that Google just shut down Google reader. Sure RSS is still used by a lot of people, but can the effort be better spent improving the experience on our site instead.

On the topic of bookmarking, let me dig around. I know we implemented some form of bookmarking but it might not have been done in the most obvious way. Let me get back to you on this as I would love your thoughts.

Thanks again for the feedback there are a ton of requests and we try our best to do what is best for the community as a whole. But as you can see, there are a ton of requests and only so many things we can do at once :)

Just went back to check and confirmed. If you favorite a series, our site will keep track of the page you were last on so that when there are more pages available to read, you will be notified. Just go to any series, click favorite, read a few pages and then go to your dashboard and I think you'll see what I mean!

This does bring up a separate issue that we need to do a better job educating everybody about features that may not be so obvious so thanks!
